Workout Wednesday ~ Insanity

I decided that on Wednesdays  I will post about my workouts. I have a love/hate relationship with working out....probably the worst part of it is because I get up at 5am to do it. I have found that if I do it in the morning I feel so much better during the day and feel like I have accomplished so much before I go to work. Once I get myself out of bed and get started, I am so happy I did it!

This is the current workout I am doing. Insanity....yes the name is scary and it should be. This is my second round doing this workout out program...the first time I was doing it I quit half way through because we were flooded by Hurricane Irene (I might post about that another time). It is a 60 day workout that comes with a calendar that tells you which workout to do each day. You workout six days a week and rest on Sunday...if you follow the calendar.

I highly, highly recommend this workout for anyone who is looking to be in the best shape of their life. The first time I did this workout, I lost 4 inches in my thighs in a week-no joke. I have to admit that I am not doing the diet part of it completely ( I eat good during the day and kind of splurge during dinner because I feel starved by then) so I haven't lost any weight yet BUT I have lost inches everywhere and all my muscles are so much tighter!

If you do decide to try this, don't give up. The warmup is a killer...I still cannot completely get through it without modifying but the results are awesome. From the reviews I have read, I've seen where the weight starts to come off in the second part of the program so I will update you on that!

This is the particular workout I did this morning, Plyometeric Cardio Circuit. The warm up is 10 minutes and intense, then you stretch for about 6 minutes and then about 20 minutes is two circuits repeated three times. It's intense but you will feel awesome after you have finished.

As they say at Team Beach Body..just push play!

If you send before and after pictures of your body from doing the program, you get a t-shirt! You best believe I will be sending my pics in because hey, I Earned It!

So if you're ready for a good workout that will get you in shape, I highly recommend Insanity. Before I did the second round, I was doing Couch 2 5k (coolrunnings.com) which is a good program to get you running a 5k in nine weeks. So that had me in good shape to start this, but the first time I did Insanity I started from no workout at all and still survived. You Can DO IT, Dig Deep :) ( you can purchase @ teambeachbody.com or Ebay...it is expensive but hey it's cheaper than the gym and will change your body)

Side note: boss told me to go home from work early today because of Tropical Storm Beryl :) Whoop Whoop- one of the perks of living far from work.

So I get to be at home with these cuties..Sandy is petrified of storms so she will be extra happy Mommy is coming home :) and we will be thinking of Daddy while he is out in the sound crabbing...ekkkk! Hopefully he will be done soon! Have a great day :)

Eventful Memorial Day Weekend!

We had a very eventful Memorial Day weekend...I guess I'll start with the beginning.
Friday our friends from Winston came down for the weekend, Andrew and Aaron have been BFF since childhood so he always is excited to see him.
This little girl had to go to the vet Saturday morning, apparently she had either been bitten by something or "punctured" her foot. Her foot was so swollen, I couldn't let it wait until the weekend was over.

After the vet visit, we hit the beach for a couple hours and then met up with the guys to grill out...we impatiently waited a while!

After dinner, we went for a boat ride that didn't last too long because it was rough but it was a fun time. From left, me, Karly and Jessica :)

Sunday we went to Banana Island and hung out for a while. For those who do not know, this is a small sand island just north of my parents house.

It seemed like we packed our whole lives with 3 coolers, I don't know how many bags with food, towels, sunscreen, etc and beach chairs.

These salty pups love going here, but unfortanutely Sandy has to stay tied to the boat.....otherwise these two will take off for hours. Don't worry...my dad rigged her up with a 20 foot or so rope, so she has a lot of space to cover still. They still had fun swimming and fetching...Jake did a little digging.

Monday morning I wake up to several missed phone calls and texts....one of my BFFs had her baby a couple hours before I woke up! It was surprising because she was two weeks early and her delivery has a crazy tale of it's own. Avery Dylan was born and shares his birthday with his daddy-how awesome is that?! Congrats Tillett fam!! So Aaron and I went and visited them at the hospital and it was a fun reunion for us....it is rare the four of us can get together with jobs, living far from each other, etc.

So that was our weekend in a nutshell....a large one, very busy!

I saw this on facebook this morning and has a lot of meaning for me lately. So I leave you with this :) Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Happy Birthday Jake!

Happy Birthday to my furbaby boy who is 4 today:) Above he is laying on our bed half awake, yes he is thrilled today is his birthday. We will celebrate with Frosty Paws doggie ice cream tonight. If you are a dog lover and love to spoil them- check out Frosty Paws in the ice cream section of the grocery store. The pups LOVE IT :)  More pics below of Jake and friends!

This would be Jake cooling off, after digging a hole under "Grandma's" bath tub. Sorry Grandma, I'm fixing it after work today ;)

At Banana Island a couple weeks ago digging hard for who knows what..

Three way tug-of-war with Sandy and cousin Bay in the fenced in yard.

This is the pups favorite perch in the house. This bench is designated to them, they can see the road and anything that comes in the driveway from here. Also at 5pm and 5:30pm you will find them howling at the sound of the fire alarm everyday from here ;)

Happy Birthday Jakie, we love you :) - yes our dogs are our children!

(puppy Jake-wasn't he the cutest?)

First Time for Everything

Hey Jackie, are you happy now?!?! <---- That is directed to a very good friend of mine who has begged me to start a blog for over a year now. I was reading her blog earlier and I felt inspired. I was never a writer in school and never was big on keeping a diary or anything, but I feel like a blog might help to share with the world about my life and might relieve stress from time to time (because we all know everyone has that!).

Now for my introductions and about me stuff....
My name is Stacey and I live on the Outer Banks (hence Living the Salt Life :)) I have been married to my husband, Aaron, for over 4 years now. I chose the the blog title because we love the beach, we are always out in the boat in our free time in the summer and my husband is a commericial fisherman; so the title felt fitting. I am a Family and Consumer Science Agent for NC State in Hyde County (mouthy title but not as important as you think). I love my job and love being able to work with people. I have to admit though on sunny, warm days I wish I was at home with the pups doing something fun!

Speaking of the pups, these are my two babies (we do not have children, so these are it:)). Jake is on the left and Sandy is on the right. They are my pride and joy and I love them to pieces!

These two LOVE the beach...but since the tourist are in full force that will have to hold off until after the summer. They also LOVE going out in the boat! We do not get a lot of time in the boat because Aaron only has Sundays off. Their mommy is slowly getting the nerve to take the boat out by herself more each summer so we can enjoy it more! In our home time there is a little sand island out in the sound and that is a favorite spot of ours by boat....because it is close by home and their mommy knows she can be rescued if needed ;)

So that is us in a nutshell, and yes Jackie I will try to post as much as possible :) Stay tuned!

I will have to get an updated picture but this is me, my husband and our "children" at Christmas 2010. My hair is a lot longer but other than that we haven't changed!

PS please do not judge me for my grammatical errors....there will be many :)
